Going Solo: Kerri 2.18

Life had returned to normal, well as normal as a house could be with a preteen little boy on my hands. He went from spending time playing pirates in the treehouse to being on that darn phone.

There were times I wanted to take that phone and flush it. Davis was a popular kid, a big change from the teasing he'd once gotten. Whatever happened over that summer turned my little boy into big man on campus.

Going Solo: Kerri 2.15

Our house grew by one. Sha loved animals and thought that Davis needed a puppy to grow up with. (currently forgot what I named him) Davis loved the little puppy and who was I to say no to a face like that?

Boyd came to his senses and dropped the custody suit. He did request to still be allowed to visit with Davis. After much discussion with Sha, we decided that Davis should have the right to get to know his father. Before I knew it, my baby was growing up. Sha and I threw him a big birthday bash.

Mom, and the family all flew in for the big day. We even invited Boyd.

It seemed like just yesterday we were bringing Davis home from the hospital, and now he was a little kid. Who looked even more like his father. The party went well.

Davis got to spend time with his great-grandmother. Graham entertained us with music and I learned that he and Ichelle were expecting another baby.

Going Solo: Kerri 2.11

Davis had both Sha and I wrapped around his little finger. He was adorable, and generally a very good baby. I would spend hours just watching him sleep. Sha and I split the late night feedings and diaper changes. The doctors said we wouldn't know until his birthday if he had inherited his father's vampire genes or not. It was a 50/50 chance he could be a vampire. I hoped he'd be human, but it if he was a vamp, I'd learn all I could so that I could make sure he grew up properly.

Mom and Dad came to visit. They were instantly in love with Davis and I barely got to hold him while they were here. Mom was even talking about retiring so she could move closer. I  noticed while she and Dad were here, that they seemed to be 'extra' close. I'd never had any illusions about their relationship growing up, but I had to admit it was nice to see my parents together.

Shortly after they returned home Sha got a call from my mom while I was at Davis' checkup. She delivered the news to me when I got home. My father had died. I couldn't believe it, he was just here and now he was gone. I took the news hard, but I was glad Sha was there for me. She offered to fly back to Bridgeport with me, but I didn't want to take Davis. It was a big city, but I didn't want to run the risk of possibly running into Boyd. I knew that if he saw Davis he'd know he was the father. I didn't want to share my son with him.

I returned home after the reading of the will. Being his only child, Dad had left the majority of his estate to me. The rest went to Mom and some charities he donated to. I was anxious to get back to Moonlight Falls because I missed Davis and Sha. Mom said she'd handle settling up Dad's estate for me.

Going Solo: Gen 2.9 Kerri

I woke up the next morning with a heavy heart. I looked at the picture on my desk from prom and I got angry. Picking it up I dumped it in the trash then called Mom. In times like these, not matter how grown you are, you need your mommy. She said she'd be right over. I also called Shasha, but she was at work so I had to leave a message. Mom arrived around thirty minutes later and instantly pulled me into a hug.

Ansley: Honey, I know it hurts like heck now, but it'll get better. I promise.
Kerri: **sniffle sniffle** he didn't even seem sorry. He looked relieved I caught him.

It was true, I'd replayed that moment over and over and that was the conclusion I'd come too. He'd been pulling away, and acting strange. He was relieved to be done with me, now he was free to be with his vampire chick and not worry any longer about the measly human. I cried harder and mom just held me, stroking my hair. She wasn't always the most conventional mom, but she loved me and it showed when I needed her now. Afterwards, in true Mom fashion, she took me out for a little retail therapy. I got some new paints and brushes. Later that evening Shasha called me back, she was angry and promised to be on the next plane to Bridgeport.

I woke up feeling queasy the next day, but didn't think anything of it because Mom had insisted we try the new sushi place. Raw fish is not my favorite. When I woke up again the next day still feeling queasy, I started to get worried. I ate some toast to settle my stomach. That was a bad idea.

Going Solo: Gen 2.6 Kerri

I was enjoying being on my own. The place was great, with wonderful views. I was most excited for Boyd to come over, but he was again busy. His mom was doing everything in her power to keep him away from me because I wasn't like them. If she would just take the time to get to know me, she'd know that I was a pretty great person. We did talk or text a lot and he promised to come by soon. I also kept in touch with Shasha, I missed her. She promised to come out for a visit. Mom came by to check it out, she was still hurting over Lenny plus being on her own. We made plans to do weekly lunch, that seemed to make her happy.

Graham and Ichelle got married. It was a lovely ceremony, she looked like a Princess since so expense was spared. Everyone that was everyone was in attendance because of Alan. Life was going well until I got the call, Alan had died. Heart attack while at work.

Going Solo: Gen 2.5 Kerri

Being back home was nice. Mom was very excited to have me back, she didn't like that I went out of state for school. Of course in true Mom fashion, she wanted to celebrate my return and graduation with a party. I wasn't a fan of big parties, but I agreed to make her happy.

Dad couldn't make it, he was out of the country doing a film. He was supposed to be retired, but everyone once in a while he'd take a role if it sounded fun. Everyone else was able to make it, except Boyd. He was working and couldn't switch his shift, but he promised to come by after work. I finally got to meet Graham's girlfriend, correction fiancée, Ichelle. She was a sweet girl and genuinely seemed to love Graham. She was already talking about starting a family and they'd just graduated college. I think it was because Graham wanted to give Grandma and Alan grandkids soon since they were both elders.

Going Solo: Gen 2.4: Kerri

After semester break, it was hard to go back to living in the dorms. I had forgotten how much I missed my old bed, and the quiet. Mom and Lenny hadn't set a date yet, she wanted to wait until I finished my last term at university so I could help her plan things. Sadly I didn't see Boyd much on break. We talked some, but his mom kept him 'busy'.

I was a Fine Arts major, but that didn't stop me from wanting to learn other subjects. The science machine was an interesting contraption, and I played around with it when I could as well as continuing to search the galaxy.

The universe was so big and there was so much unknown about it. On the fun side, I also started to dabble in street art. It wasn't as interesting to me as painting, but the self expression side of it, made me want to try.

I arrived before Shasha did, but she called me as soon as she got back to campus. I met her over at the university coffee house.

She was really REALLY happy to see me again. We went in to have a cup of coffee and the barista told us they had installed a new photobooth upstairs. We started out just taking pictures, but like I said, she really missed me, and I missed her too! She knew about Boyd, so at least I wasn't 'cheating' on two people. But I didn't see what Shasha and I did as cheating anyway. It was more about experimenting with life. Yeah that was it, not cheating at all...but why did I still feel so guilty about doing it?

With this being my final semester, I really wanted to make sure I didn't let my grades drop.

Sadly I had the same boring professor, but I was hoping the new material would be enough to keep my interest. My roomies, lost that will to keep things clean so I was back to dealing with living with slobs.

And idiots.

Boyd sent me a gift with a card saying how sorry he was for not getting to see me while I was home.

His mom was pushing for him to put the needs of the family first, and he wasn't ready for that yet. When I called him to thank him, I tried to find out what he meant by that, but he was very vague saying it was nothing to worry about.

Shasha and I had one class together. I had room in my schedule for a technology class and that was her major. We again were study buddies, and then some.

Before I knew it finals were upon us again. I passed with a perfect GPA.

Graduation day came. I had made it, I was a college graduate.

The first in my family. Everyone came, and I was surprised that Boyd showed up. He hadn't said he was coming, but mom said she told him not to tell me. It was great to have everyone there to share in my success.

Move out day came. Shasha was taking a few extra courses to go for her master's degree.

We promised to keep in touch. I would miss her, she had been a great friend. I knew that friendship would continue and we even made plans to visit each other.

I packed up my few belongings, and headed home.

**A/N--whew!!! I didn't think I'd ever get through those two weeks at Uni. It really is a repeat of things so not very interesting game play. But on the upside Kerri now has 1 degree down, 2 more to go!!! Can't wait to get her home and see how far all her paintings get her in her career. She has about 5 large ones in her inventory.**
